North Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale

Palm Beach has a busy commercial port

North Palm Beach (Old Port Cove Marina) to Fort Lauderdale (Bahia Mar Marina)

Palm Beach has a very busy commercial port.  Things were happening, even on a Sunday morning.

Rybovich Yard Full of Mega Yachts
Huntress is here and isn't anywhere near the largest

Huntress was the mega yacht that was in our blog from last year.  She was docked at Stock Island, at their fuel dock, which she dwarfed.  Today at the Rybovich yard, we saw mega mega yachts that made the huntress look small.  It is hard to imagine how much money these yachts must cost and even more importantly, how much they must cost to run and maintain.  These have to have a very large crew.

A day full of bridge openings
sailboats would have twice as many

We saw so many beautiful homes today, that they all became a blur.  So many of them to look at that eventually none of them seem special.  Sandy and I started to look for smaller, really nice homes that we thought were much nicer.

We went under 21 bridges today in approximately 50 miles.  We had to wait for 7 of those bridges to open, most of them have set schedules, like every half hour or every half hour on the quarter after and quarter to the hour.  They are all different. The openings are timed so that if you maintain at least knots you will make each opening with minutes to spare. You must request the opening so the bridge tender will let you through.  If you are there but have not contacted him and are at the end, the bridge will close.  This is why most people try to avoid these 50 miles but the weather was very rough outside (and inside with so many boats in the waterway).

Someone is still celebrating Christmas!

This person's whole yard was Christmas, including white "snow" over most of their front yard.  Welcome to south Florida!
