Vero Beach City Marina to Sunset Bay Marina and Anchorage in Stuart FL

Heading West these are the second and third bridges
before the Marina
The Railroad Bridge is normally open unless
a train is coming.  There is room after the first bridge
to jocky around while waiting for an opening
The opening for the RR bridge is just barely enough
for a small vessel and a boat our size, I know
The opening on the third bridge is enough for two boats
our size, I know that too

The first Bridge Westbound, fixed, starts to concentrate traffic
Route 1

This is where Parker has decided to be while underway

We left Vero Beach at 10:00 AM, we had yet again a beautiful day for travel.  Just south of the Fort Pierce inlet, the water turned  the blue green color I associate with Florida.  We were able to travel quickly most of the way until we were about 10 miles from Stuart.  Boat traffic was very heavy, boats going fast in all directions.  Sandy really had to concentrate on driving and depths and I spent the whole trip facing backwards to tell him what was behind him, coming up, etc.

Very Busy two restaurants dockside - valet parking 3 - 4 deep

There were gorgeous, huge homes on the water, some with massive steel pilings that is obvious it was for a huge private yacht.

Foggy Morning when we left for Clewiston
we are right in middle of the picture

last bridge before marina, you can see all three

Right before the marina was a bridge that opened on the half hour, we only had to wait about 5 minutes, lots of boats passing thru.  Add in a railroad bridge that was open, but very tight opening with current and it made for an interesting end to the day.

We got fuel at the marina and were given our slip assignment.  We were the little boat in the marina, many, many large yachts.  You could tell it was a very robust and affluent live aboard community.  A lot of the boat owners knew each other and were having cocktails on each other's boats.  This was a very high end snow bird community, perfect for Covid times.

Really nice riverside park and riverside walkway that was lit at night and extended out past and along the shore.  Part of the walkway passes thru the marina.  Many large yachts over 100', at least 15.

They had two different restaurants on the premises.  Both had live music outside last night.  Valet Parking was in place and very, very aggressive.  Cars double parked, and people and the valets looking for more spaces.  It was packed.  We got dinner to go and enjoyed it on the boat.

Tomorrow we go across Lake Okeechobee to Clewiston.
