Fernandina Beach, FL to St. Simon's Island, GA

We seem to always have a spectacular Sunset here |
March 8, 2021
We left at 10:45 AM because dead low tide is at 11:00 AM and we have to pass a point closer to our destination with at least some water underneath us. The ICW has very many trouble spots with constant shoaling and you really have to watch the tides to make safe passage. It is hard for us to be up so early but have to stall to leave. It was prudent, however to wait for the tide to rise.

We did a lot of planning for our trip home during the layover in Fernandina Beach and we have made reservations for all except our last two stops. Now we hope that the weather and tides will favor us and make it all possible.

We are headed to Morningstar Marina in St. Simon's Island, GA. We have been there before on our trip down and like it. They have a courtesy car if we get there early enough to use it. We will also get fuel.

"cool lights" walking back from dinner |
Rather uneventful trip, we did have a bumpy bit when we were traversing the sound close to the ocean that covered the boat in salt. Another wash for the boat when we get to St. Simon's Island.

slightly different perspective of sunset |
We ate dinner at a restaurant in the marina complex. Very good food, but we had to eat inside. We were fortunate that we were very isolated where we sat but still had a great view. We ate and left relatively quickly. A very nice stop and on our way to our marina near Savannah.
