Charleston to Beaufort SC

Beautiful Day today

"Bewfort"

Its pronounced "Bewfort"!  We keep messing it up and pronounce it like the town in NC with the same name.  Beautiful sunrise and day.  Left at 9:10 with 66 miles to go .  5 hours later and 66 miles and we were docked.  Rosemary was very nervous about depths yesterday so today she moved whenever we were getting shallow so she couldn't see the depth.

On facedock, marina is across river from Beaufort SC

Tom. the owner of the marina, tied us up and gave us a quick orientation on area.  We were staying for two nights and we arrived on Sunday.  There is a restaurant on site that we went to first night.  Ate outside with heaters on deck.  Great food with very short walk to other end of dock. Sandy and I like to get fried green tomatoes when we are down south and this was the best we have had, along with oysters "Rockafella".  We did our best to go to as many places within walking distance as Tom recommended.  Almost everything to go, except dinner outside at the Dockside.  Nice boaters lounge we had to ourselves to work on schedule, make reservations and plan the next week while doing laundry.  We should be in Florida by the end of the week.

We took the loaner car and drove into Beaufort, we were in Lady's Island.  We were actually glad we were where we were located as there were plenty of food options.  Next two days while traveling, we think we are cooking our dinners on the boat.  We have plenty of food and supplies with us.  Rosemary should have been a girl scout.
First bridge, a couple of miles out of Charleston
We didn't require an opening, being courteous
and not in a hurry, followed sailboat thru
called and talked to both bridge tender and sailboat

Also, not to forget, we met two more young people, on two small sailboats, who had started to travel together.  One person (a guy) was from Havertown and left from Essington and the other person (a girl) left from California, drove to Annapolis, and got the boat ready.  Her boat was only a 26 foot sailboat, with a tiller, no wheel to steer.  Her engine was 1/3 the power of our dinghy engine, which is how most sailboaters move, they hardly ever sail.  It was cold, we don't know how you do it, but we are not them.
