Dog Parks and Pools!

 We just departed Key West after spending a month.  Before we left we put a deposit down for next year starting in late January for a month.  The deposit is 100 % refundable with 48 hour notice, so it is not a big commitment, but it indicates how much we enjoyed our time there. We have too many great pictures to include them all.

The weather in Key West was what everyone at home would have enjoyed rather than the storms they endured this year.  We had sun and 80 degree weather almost every day.  We might have had a total of 4 hours rain in the month.  We had two pools at our complex, an outside bar and inside/outside restaurant.  We were very aware of how fortunate we were to be enjoying the sunshine.

There are a surprising amount of activities to do and see and places to eat that are accessible by car, boat, bike or bus.

We enjoyed the ability to launch and recover the dinghy whenever we wanted to.  We enjoyed countless sunset cruises and exploring the keys on the Gulf Side of Key West and North.  We took the big boat to Boca Grande which was about 30 miles south and launched the dinghy to explore the beach.  Parker actually enjoyed that boat ride.

When we were getting near the end of our stay we were both getting anxious to start getting North because we were missing much that was going on with the kids.  The times when we could actually relax and not worry about what we "should" be doing rather than just enjoying where we were are becoming more frequent. It is a good thing and is why we are thinking about coming back.

We arrived 5 days early in Key West (January 27th) and left 5 days early (February 26), rather than March 3rd.  We had a good weather window to cross the Gulf of Mexico and proceed to Fort Meyers Beach on the first leg of our trip back home., so we took the opportunity.
