Beaufort to Bald Head Island by Ocean

We left the dock at 7:00. Beautiful Day but slightly more wind than predicted. Rosemary and Parker are not big fans of an ocean passage even when it is calm. It was a following sea and we would have been most comfortable hugging the coast but we decided to make the trip as short as possible which meant we were about thirty miles offshore for part of the passage. 120 Nautical miles and we pulled into the marina at Bald Head Island at 1:00. 104 Gallons of Fuel.
We rented a golf cart and toured the beautiful Island. The rental place closes at 4:00 so they offered us $5 more than the daily rate and we could keep the cart until they opened in the morning.
Dog friendly island with a dog park and easy access from the dock for relief for Parker. The entrance to the marina is off the Cape Fear Inlet and the current runs perpendicular to the entrance. Importannt to maintain speed, slightly into current when entering. Busy commercial inlet including passenger and vehicle ferries. Beautiful homes, beaches and an impressive golf course.
Bike ride in the morning and a leisurely departure because we are only traveling about 10 miles today (Thursday 11/5) to get to Saint James Plantation Marina.
