Bellhaven to Coinjock

Beautiful Sunrise

Bellhaven (Dowry Creek) to Coinjock (Coinjock Marina)

It was as smooth as glass today on the water, every part of this trip was smooth.  We had 82 miles to go, which on the ICW, that is a long day.  However, a lot of it was in open water or large canals that have no houses or docks so we could go fast almost all the way.  We arrived at  Coinjock marina at 1:20, just 4 hours and 45 minutes after we left Dowry Creek.

Stayed very calm all day

We had to have the Alligator Swing Bridge opened for us, it won't open if the wind is more than 30 knots, but there was no wind today, easy, easy!  When we arrived at Coinjock, we found out we were the only boat coming here today, we are really ahead of the curve for transients this year. When we were here last year, there were a ton of boats, as a matter of fact there were 5/6 Flemings all tied up with us as well as lots of other boats, I am surprised that we are the only boat here.  Everyone stops at Coinjock because of the delays that you have ahead of you.  It is hard to do a full day to another marina going North because of all the bridges/lock.  Going South, I think you only have one other marina you could go to, or where we were which is 82 miles away.

Funny, though, we were at this exact same marina on the exact same day last year.  We were checking our Captain's Log, amazing!  We left Key West on the same day in Feburary (2/26) both last year and this one, we went via the West Coast last year and the East Coast this year and ended up in the same place on the same date, we couldn't do that if we tried.

They have a restaurant on site here so we will make it easy on ourselves and just eat there.  Tomorrow we head to Norfolk, again we are making it easy on ourselves.  Because of the lock and all the bridges that have to be opened, we are going to stop in Norfolk for the night before we continue onto Deltaville tomorrow.  Our very, very good friend Joe Villa is going to meet us in Deltaville on Friday and we will pack up all the stuff we have to bring back and we will go to Delaware, spend the night and go hone to PA in our car.  Hopefully, we can see Genevieve before we take off for home.  Looking forward to spending the night at the beach and in PA.
