Key West

Key West day before departure

We saw many great sunsets!

Saw plenty of manatees

Wow, we arrived here January 25th, right on schedule (which never works with a boat!) and we are going to depart two days early to take advantage of a weather window.  For most of the time we have been here, there have been small craft warnings due to the winds.  That is not a problem at all unless you plan on being out in the ocean or gulf.  So it is supposed to be fairly calm tomorrow and Sunday and we hope to get most of the ocean traveling out of the way just in case the winds kick up again.

On a good day you might take a dinghy ride
and see a Portugese man of war and enjoy a special dinner

We have had really nice weather, almost sunny every day, very little rain.  In the low 70's when we first got here to low 80's this past week.  We have been able to see our friends, Tom and Peggy Price all the time.  They were staying in a 3 bedroom condo with a beautiful view of Smathers Beach, lots of stuff to watch from their porch.  Our good mutual friends (of the Price's) came to visit them so we got to see Susan and Bill McCune.  Our other good friends, Joe and Gina Villa came to stay with us aboard Wynnewood and we had a really nice time.

McCunes too!

Despite the wind, we got out on the dinghy and got to visit "Rosemary's Beach", see lots of sunsets, go to almost all of our favorite restaurants and really tried to relax.  Our favorite place on the whole island is Louie's Backyard and we went there three times!

Lots of great meals with great friends!

Parker has been enjoying his time here because he gets to play ball 4 times a day, more than at home! Tomorrow we are starting the trip by going to Marathon, that will probably only take about 2 hours but it makes the trip to Fort Lauderdale on Sunday two hours shorter so it will be worth it.  We will be seeing some friends on our sister boat, Oasis, whom I am sure we will share a drink and a few stories with as we have both had a few electrical issues.  We were able to solve ours with two new house batteries and my very intelligent husband reading through the manuals to find a reset circuit that no one else had any idea how to find.  Oh well, we are back at 100% so all good.
