Saint James to Myrtle Beach Yacht Club
St. James Marina to Myrtle Beach Yacht Club

| dredge working Lockwoods Folly inlet |
We left around 11:00 so we could take advantage of a rising tide. We have to go through two trouble spots; Lockwoods Folly and Shalotte's Inlet. Both of these areas can be very trick with very little water in them if the tide is out, and even though the "channel" is marked, the buoys are constantly being moved due to shoaling and current. The timing was good and we were able to traverse the areas with no real problems.
| Clarks, oysters Rockefeller check out the little bottle of hot sauce |
We are only going 31 miles on this leg which is quite short, but in reading over our Captain's log from last year we realized this was a very slow slog past houses and docks, almost all the way. It took 3 hours to go 31 miles. Glad we broke it up.

The people at MBYC were very nice and told us to try Clark's for dinner as their "officer's club"" was closed Monday and Tuesday. Our friends, Pat and Tom live fairly close by and have a membership to the "officers club" and say it is really good. We are usually in the right place on the wrong day. Anyway we did go to Clark's and had a very nice dinner on an outside porch that was basically totally enclosed with heaters, so much for covid, we might as well have just eaten inside, there were less people! Good food and drinks though, so all good.
This marina as well as the other two Marinas in this harbor are gated and locked. Route 17 is right out front, Tom and Pat as well as the dockmaster, advised us to go to Clarks, the Circle K, or McDonalds (all within immediate walking distance) or don't go out. Everything is not all roses everywhere, that's for sure.
