Myrtle Beach South Carolina to Georgetown South Carolina

January 11, 2022

Myrtle Beach Yacht Club to Georgetown Harborwalk Marina

We see many great sunsets and sunrises

Beautiful, cold morning today, ice on all the docks and metal walkways.  We took advantage of a place across Route 17 that looked like it had great breakfasts and ordered.  Interestingly, there are no crosswalks or cross lights - we did manage, but we had to jog across each section of the highway separately.  I am sure the drivers thought we were crazy!

Warm Weekend Nightmare when they hit the water

We really like the neighboring fish market
weather and time of week = slim pickings

We traversed past two swing bridges today, the Little River (Archie Poo) swing bridge and the Soccastee swing bridge.  We were able to get past really easily as  a boat had already requested an opening going Northbound and she saw us and held the bridge open for us.  The other tricky place is called the Rockpile.  It is 3 miles of narrow "ditch" where there is not any room for error.  Rocky banks on both sides.

Little River swing bridge - one of two that opened for our passage

Free Drinks, I am such a juvenile

We were going to get fuel at the Wacca Wache Marina on the way but they had the standards and measures person there and we could not get fuel.  We will get some tomorrow sometime.  Fuel prices can really fluctuate and when you are getting a lot, it certainly makes a difference!

We slipped into our spot in Georgetown to find that many of the places from last year just haven't made it to this year.  Covid certainly has an effect on the restaurant economy.  We will be leaving later again tomorrow for same reason (tide) and will head to Tolers Cove Marina, which is just North of Charleston.  No mega dock for us, too bumpy and much too long of a walk to get Parker off the boat, almost a quarter mile before we reach any kind of land on that one!
