Daytona to Melbourne

abandoned boats are becoming a theme

Daytona (Halifax Harbor) to Melbourne (Melbourne Harbor)

all types of abandoned vessels along the ICW

Beautiful morning to leave.  Unique way to return key cards, you drop them in a net that the dockhand extends at the fuel dock.

all of the abandoned and derelict vessels
make it easier to understand Florida's
increasingly more strict anchoring laws
as with most things both sides
of this issue can be abused

This was a longer ride than we had anticipated.  It took us almost 6 hours, 88.5 miles.  The first part is slow past a lot of houses and long stretches with no houses but still a no wake zone.  About 15 miles of no wake zone takes a very long time.   We were happy when we got here.  Tons of places to eat and get food but we are planning on picking up something little and finishing some leftovers from the fridge.

These dolphin came to play in very shallow water, only about 7'
deep. They were almost touching the transom

We had some fun with the dolphins today.  It is crazy how close they get to the boat, I am not sure if you can see them in the water sometimes, even when they are not coming up.  If Sandy were to ever stop the boat short I think they would ram right into it.

The restaurant we wanted to get dinner from was closed.  WE went to a popular seafood place that does take out and got broiled fish.  Salty and over spiced drenched in butter, lesson learned.

beautiful calm night, except when a train goes by
that is when it is nice to have the ac running and the boat closed up
so you don't hear anything

We are planning on breaking our vow to not travel on the weekemd in South Florida.  I hope we don't regret it.  We are banking on the rain and chilly weather to keep people off the water
