Kilkenny Marina (Richmond Hills) to St Simons Island

dark night on the marsh
beautiful sunrise

Didn't really need this stop as the trip this morning was almost all at cruising speed with high tide as planned at trouble spots.  Arrived very early, about 11:45.

Beautiful trip through largely undeveloped Marsh with many hammock of trees interspersed along the way.  There are a couple of spots where depth is a big concern.  There are no plans for dredging these spots due to the sensitive environmental concerns.  Little Mud river is one of theses areas, best to transit from half tide to full.  We left very early with a favorable high tide.  Never had to slow down on this almost 60 mile leg of our journey, except to pass 4 boats.  2 and 3/4 hours later we are pulling into Morningstar Marina Golden Isles.

Gated docks
beautiful sunset

This marina is on St. Simons Island.  Very nice place.  We had a very socially distant dinner in a restaurant right off the dock.  We asked to eat outside but they said it was too cold.  We told them we wanted to see where they would seat us because we might get it to go.  It worked out for us. they sat us in a large section that held six tables and we were the only ones there.  Dinner was delicious and only a short walk down the dock to our abode.  We are really trying to stay safe.  Cooking and getting a lot of food to go.

Easy walk down the dock from restaurant

Great stop, loaner car, nice facilities, easy pump out and fuel, loaner bikes too.  Only downside is the transient facedock is very exposed to a southwest wind and there is a very strong current that parallels the dock.  Bumpy around midnight woke us up, thankfully calmed down after about an hour.

loaner car is a great amenity

The arch is an amazing mechanical device

the car carrier that capsized last year
with more than 4,000 new vehicles on board

This is the area where they are cutting apart the car carrier that overturned last year in St Simons Sound.  It was carrying over 4,000 brand new cars, suv's and trucks.  They are staging the operation from this facility and there are always interesting things going on. Economic windfall for many workers for this big project.
