Fort Meyers Beach (Pink Shell) to Key West (Stock Island Marina Village)

Key West Express
we will be following the same route tomorrow

Seersucker bathing suit
feels like vacation

Tiki Bar was very busy all day
feels great

During our full day at Fort Meyers Beach, we enjoyed the amenities of being at a resort.  We had already done the planning for the final leg and there were no more reservations or trip planning to do except to verify the weather report.

It has been a couple of years since Kiersten
visited us in Philadelphia

I could get used to this
night before departure

Rosemary's niece Kiersten who lives in Fort Meyers, joined us for lunch.  We had already enjoyed the beach for 2 hours on nice lounge chairs and an umbrella.  The pleasant gentlemen working the beach shack brings out your chairs and augers a hole for the umbrella.  We picked up lunch (for tomorrow while traveling also) from the beach bar at the resort.  After Kiersten left we took a dip in the adult pool.  Finally feeling like we are someplace tropical and not constantly moving or planning to move.

beautiful sunset

beautiful sunrise, underway

everybody is happy when it is calm

The forecast for today was holding up, in fact it might be getting even better.  The weatherman on the local broadcast indicated that in this part of Florida on the last day of a nice stretch of weather supported by a high pressure system about to be displaced by a strong cold front, you can guarantee fog in the morning.  That part held true and the automatic fog horn on the hailer got some serious use.

Passing Naples

We arrived at our marina and refueled.  Taylor, our dockhand, was very nice and told us our slip assignment, D-2.  It is completely interior, nearest to land (and the laundry room) .  Yeah!  The kind of spot that Rosemary and Parker would have picked themselves.

wind became light and variable

doesn't get much more calm

We decided to go for a beer and some wings for happy hour, just to celebrate finally being here.  We took a dip in one of the pools, and before bed Parker finally got to play ball in one of the dog parks here.  We did not bring a ball with us, but he rooted around in the bushes until he found one.  He has quite a nose for that.

so calm it is difficult to see the horizon water and sky look the same

We are biking to the airport tomorrow, we have decided to rent a car for a month, too long to be without one.

next to laundry, interior spot close to relief for Parker
we are not rocking here

  1. Hurray!! Cheers- You made it. So nice to see your niece! Great location at the marina. Looks pretty crowded there with a lot of boats. Hoping the rest of the trip is relaxing and wonderful! I miss you both!! ❤️👍🏻
