Osprey Marina at a dock

The channel narrows ahead
Yesterday on the way to Osprey Marina we passed thru the area of the ICW known as the Rock Pile. The channel going thru the roughly 2 mile stretch narrows considerably. When digging the channel a significant amount of rock was encountered and a decision was made to narrow the channel in order to save time and money. The pathway is sufficient for recreational boats to pass carefully, but you don't want to encounter a commercial vessel like a tug and barge. Prior to entering this stretch it is important to check the AIS for traffic and to make a securite call on channels 16 and 13 to alert any concerned traffic of your passage. Our transit of the area was totally uneventful but the rocky sides of the channel were evident.
The rock ledge is clearly visible on both sides
We had a very nice lunch with our friends and picked up the rental car. The ride back to Delaware was also painless and we are now home until sometime after Christmas, when we will return and continue our voyage south.
Safely (We hope) secured for the holidays
